History
Wado Ryo was founded in 1939 by Hironori Ohtsuka (1892-1982) who was a senior student of Gichin Funakoshi (the founder of karate do).
Hironori Ohtsuka spent much of his youth studying Ju-Jitsu from which he drew heavily on in the formulation of Wado Ryu.
Wado Ryo is one of four main Japanese styles of karate taught around the world and is thought by many to be the fastest of all karate schools.
Wado Ryo employs very light and fast techniques, preferring avoidance to brute force. Wado Ryu approximately translated means "the way of peace". This means to outwardly show agression, even during, training is greatly discouraged.
